Build Powerful Data Visualizations & Dashboards Easily with the PyViz Workshop

PYVIZ WORKSHOP

PyViz Workshop Overview

This one-day workshop builds techniques for web-based data exploration and interactive-app development using open-source Python libraries (including HoloViews, GeoViews, Bokeh, Datashader, and Param). These tools enable constructing rich high-performance, scalable, flexible, and deployable visualizations easily.

Prerequisites

We assume participants have prior experience using the Python language and, in particular, using standard Python tools for data analysis (notably NumPy, Pandas, Jupyter).

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Explain & apply the PyViz workflow for annotating data & customizing plots/layouts

  • Build & deploy Python-based web apps & dashboards without having to rewrite data pipelines using web-based technologies explicitly (e.g., Javascript)

  • Build dynamic custom interactions with parameters & widgets

  • Structure visualizations around various kinds of data (e.g., gridded, network, geographic, streaming, large datasets, etc.) and Python scientific libraries
